The
8th Annual International Dragon Boat Festival produced by the
International Dragon Boat Association (IDBA) will be held NEXT year on the weekend of August13-14, 2005 at Oakland's Jack London Square. As usual, the event promises
to be filled with excitement and spirited competition. The International
Dragon Boat Association extends a warm invitation to all paddlers,
near and far. Come see why this event is one of the best and
fastest growing events in the region.

The 2005 California International Dragon Boat Festival will be
held on the waterfront of Jack London Square and in the Oakland
Estuary, where the waters are ideal for dragon boating. Named after
one of America's most well-known literary figures, Jack London
Square is a wonderful venue to stage this annual event with its
numerous restaurants, tourist attractions, shops, and boutiques.
Tentative Festival Format:
DAY 1: Saturday, August 13, 2005
- Traditional Opening Ceremony - Awakening the Dragons
- Dragon boat racing seeding & preliminaries
- Arts and Craft Exhibition with over 50 vendors
- Childrens' entertainment and activities
- All-day performances on the Cultural Stage
- Artists Alley for art Education Projects
DAY 2: Sunday, August 14, 2005
- Dragon boat racing Semifinals & Finals
- Arts and Craft Exhibition with over 50 vendors
- Childrens' entertainment and activities
- All-day performances on the Cultural Stage
- Artists Alley for art Education Projects
- Closing Ceremonies to award the winning teams
