The 8th Annual California International Dragon Boat Festival is postponed and scheduled for next year on August 13 & 14, 2005 at Jack London Square. Teams interested in participating in this year's youth program or next year's festival should check out the Jack London Regatta link to the right.

Look! Youth Teams can paddle for free!

Youth Teams may want to sign up for the Youth Dragon Boat Racing Program to be held at Lake Merritt and/or the Jack London Aquatic Center. We are taking registration of teams now for the summer. Scholarships and community service (in exchange) for paddlers with modest means may be available (depends on fund raising for Year 2004). This is a "first come, first serve" basis so notify us soon of your interest! Deadline is June 30, 2004 to register a team to learn to paddle.

How do I get started?

Just get 25 youth (13-19 years old) together and a couple of adult managers and we will do the rest. Scholarship teams are collectively required to do 25 hours of community service in exchange for scholarshp benefits. For information contact: info@edragons.org or call 510-452-4272.

Adult teams that want to paddle locally can also register a team, pay for 8 coaching/training sessions ($1000/team for up to 25 members) or rent boats/equipment at $75/hour and get a regularly assigned time slot on the water. This program is designed to assist local teams so they can get ready for this season's races.
