the International Dragon Boat Association's festival page and most especially for your patience as we get caught up for 2004.
As some of you may have heard, the
8th annual California International Dragon Boat
Festival (CIDBF) will be postponed until next year (August 13-14, 2005) so we can dedicate ourselves and our resources to formally establishing the Youth Dragon Boat Program at long last. Due to the success of our annual festival and its phenomenon growth, we have had to make some hard choices with respect to finite time and resources. In the end and after eight challenging years, we chose our youth and decided they had to come first.
We recognize that our festival has become an annual tradition for teams all
over the region . . . from corporation entities to community organizations
and regret any disappointments. However, our primary mission is youth development and we felt compelled to direct our modest resources and time to getting the Youth Dragon Boat Program up and running.
Mark your calendars for the weekend of August 13-14, 2005 and we'll see you at the next festival entitled, "Return of the Dragon"!
In the meantime, keep checking our site to get updates on what's happening this summer. We will have information on how to start
or register a team and let you all know dates and times when things solidify. Thanks again for visiting and
